Known for its rows of restaurants and coco stands displaying stacks of coconuts it's a favorite with busloads of tourist from Mexico City. This area is a family area for Mexicans. You will find some North Americans here but not as many as you will find in central Acapulco's beaches. The restraunsts are literally side-to-side and the area can become quite congested on weekends and holidays. As you arrive in Acapulco from the airport you will observe the bay of Puerto Marquez as you make your way into the central Acapulco tourist area. Upon arrival in this port my taxi driver Sergio recommended restaurant "Mariposita" proprietor Hilaria Chavez oversees this and two other restaurants in the area. I had a shrimp cocktail and breaded filet of fish. Sergio had the red snapper. The total bill with various tropical drinks came out to 20.00 U.S. Dollars. Here are some of the entries and prices on the menu Sea food soup 45.00 peso, Shrimp cocktail 40.00 pesos, Cerviche 40.00 pesos, Whole red snapper 120.00, fried chicken dinner 40.00 peso's, tampiquena 45.00 peso's, quesadellas 25.00 peso's. |
